Tama Tonga Reveals WWE Are "Knocking Hard" On His Door

Tama Tonga on WWE interest

Tama Tonga has confirmed WWE are interested in signing him, revealing to Yahoo Japan that the company are "knocking hard" on his door.

"I'm always the guy at the top. Look what I have accomplished in my short career in Japan. I started the best unit ever, the Bullet Club. I was ostracised. Nobody believed me. But that's okay. All you need is yourself. All you need is to believe in yourself. I will be the best wrestler. It could be the ultimate legend of New Japan Pro-Wrestling, or it could be WWE, because WWE is knocking hard on my door. And I might say, 'Hello,'" Tama Tonga said.

Reports in early January noted that WWE had internally expressed interest in bringing Tama Tonga in. The NEVER Openweight Champion's deal was said to be up in a matter of weeks at the time.

Tonga previously had the chance to sign with WWE in 2016 but he opted to remain in NJPW to team with his brother Tanga Loa. They formed the Guerrillas of Destiny and are one of the most successful tag teams in NJPW history as seven-time IWGP Tag Team Champions.
