The Bloodline Win Main Event Of WWE WrestleMania 40 Night One

The Bloodline triumph in WWE WrestleMania 40 night one main event

The Bloodline are truly inevitable, with the team of Roman Reigns and The Rock overcoming Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes in the main event of WWE WrestleMania Night One.

One of the most hyped Mania main events in years, the bout was preceded by a lot of pomp and circumstance, with Rhodes and Rollins in their usual exuberance, before The Rock - complete with People’s Championship - walked through flames on his way to the ring. Rock was soon joined by ‘The Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns, and Paul Heyman, before Samantha Irvine delivered the big match in-ring introductions.

The match was a slow measured affair, with all four men working the crowd and playing up to the occasion. Reigns started with Rollins, but it wasn’t long until The Rock made his return to a WWE ring for the first time in over eight years. The Bloodline soon found themselves on the Back-foot as Rollins and Rhodes combined well to establish dominance in the bout, with the match soon turning into a ringside brawl.

Rock threatened to fire referee Chad Patton if he counted him out, as he and Rollins fought their way into the crowd, with Reigns and Cody fighting their way up the ramp. The Bloodline took control of the bout here, with Rock targeting Rollins’ weak knee, wrapping it around the ringpost before Reigns picked the bones of his former SHIELD partner.

Rock and Reigns continued to work over Rollins, Rock blatantly low-blowing Seth with the ref unable to do anything about it or potentially lose his job. Rhodes and Rollins battled back to take Rock down, Seth risking it all to nail the stomp on ‘The Final Boss’, further hurting his knee in the process. Finishers and nearfalls came left right and centre, but Rock then made a beeline for Mama Rhodes with the blood-soaked weightbelt, but as he came back into the ring Cody was waiting, unleashing the Dusty jabs and Bionic Elbow. Cody avoided a People’s Elbow to hit a Cody Cutter on ‘The great one’, but as he went for the pin Roman connected with a Superman Punch to take back control. Reigns then went for the Spear on Cody, but Seth moved the ‘American Nightmare’ out of harms way, with Reigns cutting Rock in two.

Rollins and Rhodes then hit stereo Pedigrees but could only get a two count. Rollins then took out Reigns again, then prevented Rock hitting a Rock Bottom through the Spanish announce table, as Cody hit one of his own on Rock as Reigns speared Rollins through the barricade. Back in the ring Reigns and Rhodes exchanged punches before Cody hit a pair of Cross-Rhoads, before Rock whipped him with the belt. Reigns Spear, then Rock came in for a Rock Bottom and a People’s Elbow for the win.

With their win, Bloodline rules will be in place for the night two main event clash between Reigns and Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, meaning The Bloodline will not be barred from ringside, and anything goes, further stacking the deck in Roman’s favour.
