The Golden Lovers Reunite In Japan

Golden Lovers back together!

Reunited and it feels so good.

The Golden Lovers have not been seen together in recent years, primarily due to travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that changed on Wednesday when Kota Ibushi shared several images of him alongside Kenny Omega.

In the photos, Ibushi and Omega can be seen eating a brownie together, and playing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game on the Nintendo Switch with Michael Nakazawa.

Omega was originally scheduled to be in Japan this week to promote AEW: Fight Forever at the Tokyo Game Show but he was not involved due to his suspension from All Elite Wrestling. Omega did visit SEGA, though, and his face was scanned for a future Yakuza game. Michael Nakazawa will be involved in presenting Fight Forever.

Omega was suspended for his involvement in a backstage fight with The Elite, CM Punk, and Ace Steel following All Out.

Kota Ibushi is still under contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling but he has been out of action since he suffered a serious shoulder injury in the G1 Climax 31 final in October 2021. He has also had a dispute with NJPW during his time on the shelf but those issues have since been resolved.

Omega and Ibushi first teamed as The Golden Lovers from 2009 until 2014 in DDT Pro-Wrestling. They then reformed the team in NJPW in 2018, remaining together for another year before Omega left to join All Elite Wrestling in January 2019.
