Chris Jericho believes the signing of himself and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross helped secure All Elite Wrestling's first television deal.

Discussing the ascent of AEW on a recent edition of his Talk is Jericho podcast, Le Champion spoke about early discussions the company had with other networks and how he thinks the name value of Jericho and JR got them on TNT.

"At the time, there was no television deal. I remember at some point we were talking about maybe going on Showtime. At some point, we were thinking maybe streaming it on, I don’t know, Amazon Prime or something along those lines, and that’s not good enough. You can’t put it on Showtime or whatever. Then [TNT] got interested I think because Chris Jericho was involved and Jim Ross. I think those two names were the two names that got us the TV deal along with Tony’s passion and his commitment and all the other factors I told you".

Jericho was one of the first major names announced for the AEW roster during their launch event on January 8, 2019, while Ross signed a three-year deal on April 3.

Good ol' JR recently announced that he'd signed a contract extension. Jericho is signed with AEW through 2023.
