The Gunns Win AEW World Tag Team Titles On Dynamite

The Acclaimed have been dethroned

Austin and Colten Gunn are the new AEW World Tag Team Champions, after defeating The Acclaimed on Wednesday night's episode of Dynamite in El Paso, TX.

Referee Stephon Smith was bumped late in the match after he was pulled into the path of an Anthony Bowens forearm smash. With Smith out, the Gunns attempted to use the tag belts as weapons, before Billy Gunn (who vowed to remain backstage during the match) came to intervene. As Billy tried to protect Bowens from a belt shot, the Gunns took him out with a belt to the face.

The Acclaimed rallied to hit Austin Gunn with their Arrival/Mic Drop combo finish, but Smith was still out. Max Caster threw Smith in to make the count, but Colten Gunn managed to pull Bowens off on two. Bowens then cradled Austin, who kicked him off into the ropes, where Colten struck Bowens in the head with one of the belts. Austin then rolled Bowens up and pinned him to win the titles.

The win gives Austin and Colten Gunn their first title reign of any kind in AEW. Austin began wrestling for AEW in early 2020, while Colten joined the organisation later in the year.

The Acclaimed's reign as champions ends after 140 days. The two won the belts from Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland at the "Grand Slam" episode of Dynamite on September 21 in New York City.
