WWE RAW saw The New Day tease signs of a break-up
The New Day are one of the most legendary factions in WWE history, but it seems they could be heading towards a break-up.
The duo of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were in action on the September 16 edition of WWE Raw, challenging WWE World Tag Team Champions The Judgment Day for the belts. Woods had JD McDonagh down for a certain three count, but was denied as the referee was dealing with a ringside brawl between The Judgment Day’s Carlito and Dominik Mysterio, Kingston, and the LWO, the chaos allowing Finn Balor to hit a Coup de Grace for the win.
Post-match, a frustrated Woods rebuffed Kingston’s consolations and said he was tired ‘of this’ and that something needed to change. Backstage Woods berated the LWO for interfering, only for Kingston to reveal that he asked for their help in countering The Judgment Days numbers. Woods was aggravated that Kingston felt they needed help, and took further umbrage when Kofi said they never needed back-up when they still had Big E.
Tensions have been simmering between Kingston and Woods for several months, with The Final Testament telling Woods Kofi was holding him back, whilst the proposal of having Odyssey Jones join the team caused dissent between Kingston and Woods.
