Title Change At Today's NJPW Road To Castle Attack Show

New champions!

New Japan Pro-Wrestling had a busy week in store for Hiromu Takahashi and he was scheduled to challenge El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship with BUSHI on Thursday's Road To Castle Attack show.

The match was scrapped, though, after Takakashi revealed he had suffered a left pectoral injury and El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru were drafted in as replacement challengers.

The replacement opponents ultimately made the most of their opportunity as El Desperado and Kanemaru defeated Bullet Club for the gold earlier today at Korakuen Hall. Both teams battled back and forth in the main event and Despe picked up the win for his team after hitting Ishimori with Pinche Loco.

Suzuki-gun's victory means El Desperado and Kanemaru are now three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. The longtime tag team's first reign lasted 304 days from the 46th Anniversary Show in 2018 to Wrestle Kingdom 13. They then reclaimed the gold in September 2020 but dropped the belts to El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori on January 23, 2021.

After winning back the tag team championship, El Desperado admitted he had more gold on his mind and demanded the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title match at Castle Attack be made a three-way. El Phantasmo was already scheduled to face Takahashi for the gold, but Hiromu asked NJPW to add BUSHI to the match as his replacement during today's show.
