Title Match Set For January 26 WWE SmackDown

The Royal Rumble go-home edition of SmackDown will have a title match

On last night’s January 19 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Katana Chance & Kayden Carter successfully outlasted the Unholy Union duo of Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn in a match that had their titles on the line. This marks the second successful defence for the pair as they defeated the former champions of Chelsea Green & Piper Niven on Monday Night RAW a couple of weeks back.

Their next challengers have already been revealed, as Asuka & Kairi Sane of Damage CTRL came out on SmackDown following their match to confront them. The Kabuki Warriors pair took hold of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title belts, mocking the champions by dancing with the championships. After being encouraged by the referee to return the gold, they did so before leaving. It was soon announced that Chance & Carter will be defending against Asuka & Kairi Sane on next week’s January 26 edition of SmackDown, which is the go-home show for the Royal Rumble 2024 premium live event.

Asuka & Sane are former two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, and are looking to become the first duo in history to be three-time winners of this prize.

The full card for next week is as follows:

  • Katana Chance & Kayden Carter (c)  vs. Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) - WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships
  • Carmelo Hayes vs. Austin Theory
  • The Pride & The Final Testament face-to-face
  • Carlito vs. Santos Escobar
