TNA Wrestling’s official relaunch at Hard to Kill in January 2024 was a critical and commercial success, with PPV buy-rates for the company the best in years.

The buy-rate for the show was previously described as ‘fantastic’, but in an update in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer states the show did TNA’s best numbers in almost 20 years.

Meltzer said calling the show an overwhelming success was an ‘understatement’, with the show believed to have done around 60,00 buys, with around 19,700 buys through traditional television pay-per-view. This figure puts it at around the same as Genesis 2006, which was headlined by Kurt Angle defeating Samoa Joe in a classic.

Curiously, Meltzer states that in one ‘rural based company’, TNA Hard to Kill actually did better buys than All Elite Wrestling Worlds End in December 2023, which Meltzer described as ‘mind blowing’ and a statistic that ‘makes no sense at all’.

Despite Hard to Kill being a good show, Meltzer suggests that some buys can be attributed to the curiosity factor, due to the relaunch of the TNA brand at the show, with subsequent ticket sales and TV ratings suggesting that a number of PPV viewers haven’t checked back in with the company.
