The Thursday Night IMPACT premiere on AMC suffered from a number of issues, particularly with the production side of the show.

Notable botches on the show included audio glitches and awkward direction, including content creators in attendance at the event being shown on the live broadcast standing in front of row upon row of empty seats. PWInsider has reported that last week's production issues were addressed internally within TNA. The hope is the issues will be rectified on Thursday Night IMPACT this week.

TNA IMPACT's premiere on AMC was heavily criticised following the show, with the episode having a 1.42 rating on Cagematch. The reaction within TNA was that most in the company "understood it wasn't a good show," and TNA wrestlers were "very pessimistic and realistic" about the episode.

The premiere on AMC averaged 173,000 viewers and a 0.04 rating in the key 18-49 demographic. Dave LaGreca noted on Busted Open Radio that both TNA and AMC are looking at their partnership as a marathon as opposed to a sprint.

"It's not a sprint, it's a marathon and AMC and TNA are looking at this like a marathon. We can't judge it by one week, though, criticisms that we heard I think are valid. There's going to be growing pains... They have to change those things for the long haul," LaGreca said.

AMC executives were reportedly "very happy" with the first episode of IMPACT on the network.
