TNA Wrestling Felt They Were Very Close To Signing CM Punk

CM Punk and TNA had been in discussions before his shock WWE return

Prior to CM Punk showing up in WWE for the first time in almost a decade at Survivor Series 2023, people within TNA Wrestling felt they were close to securing his services.

According to a report by PWInsider Elite, TNA had made a major money offer to Punk, which he was said to be mulling over prior to his eventual WWE return.

TNA sources also noted that Punk was 'amazing' in his dealings with company executives, including TNA President Scott D'Amore. The promotion had hoped the 45-year-old would make an on-camera appearance for them at the recent Bound for Glory PPV in October, though that obviously did not end up happening.

Conversations did continue after the pay-per-view, however, and TNA felt they were close to coming to an agreement for Punk to come in full-time. But once they realised the reality of the situation involving WWE and how much money could be made, they were happy for the Straight-Edge Superstar.

As well as impressing TNA executives during his dealings with the company, Punk apparently made a positive impression on the roster, who were appreciative of the time he spent with them and the advice he gave when visiting their Chicago tapings a couple of months back.

The former WWE Champion had previously worked for TNA in 2003/04.
