Tony Khan Comments On Securing Elton John's 'Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting' For AEW Collision

Tony Khan secured Elton John’s classic Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting for AEW Collision

With All Elite Wrestling taking to the airwaves every Saturday night with Collision, it seemed only fitting that Sir Elton Hercules John’s classic Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting was secured for the show’s intro.

The 1973 hit is one of Elton John’s best-known songs, and during a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, AEW President Tony Khan opened up on securing the song for Collision:

“Well, I’m not gonna claim it was [cheap], but I would say it was the perfect fit for the show,” Khan said. “I really wanted to get it. I love working with pro wrestling music rights. I think one thing that we’ve done in AEW that’s been great is bring a lot of awesome music into the world of pro wrestling on a weekly basis. And you hear some legendary bands and legendary songs every week on Dynamite. And now, on AEW Collision very fitting to have this amazing anthem to have Elton John’s ‘Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting’ as the official theme song of Collision.

“It’s a really big deal. And I’m very, very excited about this great opening theme song we were able to get, and people really seemed to love the show open with ‘Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting.’ It just felt to me like it would be the perfect song. And I really enjoy working on those kinds of things, videos and theme songs.”

Khan is no stranger to licensing music for AEW shows and talent, with tracks from The Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, and Pixies featured in AEW, amongst others.
