Tony Khan Hopeful Of Booking Jushin Liger For AEW Appearance

Jushin Liger to AEW?

A pro wrestling legend could be set to make an appearance in All Elite Wrestling.

Speaking at the post-Double or Nothing media scrum, Tony Khan revealed he has spoken to New Japan Pro-Wrestling about booking Jushin Thunder Liger for an appearance during the Owen Hart Cup that is set to get underway at Forbidden Door on June 25 and continue during AEW's summer tour of Canada.

"I'm not sure about this, I've had some nice talks, I'm hopeful and I spoke to New Japan Pro-Wrestling, I think it would be great and they think it would great. One of Owen Hart's great opponents, a rival, they've competed, both former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champions, wouldn't it be amazing if we could get Jushin Thunder Liger over to Canada? He's competed against Owen Hart and competed in Canada and competed in Stampede Wrestling. That would be something really neat. To coincide with AEW in Canada and Forbidden Door and our partnership with New Japan, and most importantly the Owen Hart Cup tournament, I think it would be great if Jushin Thunder Liger can come over. I'm optimistic that he'll be able to," Khan stated.

Liger and Owen Hart teamed together and faced each other inside the squared circle on numerous occasions between 1987 and 1991 in Stampede Wrestling (where Liger performed under his real name of Keiichi Yamada) and NJPW.

Liger is still signed with New Japan and he often does Japanese commentary for the promotion. He retired from in-ring action at Wrestle Kingdom 14 in January 2020.
