Tony Khan On Why There Hasn't Been More AEW-IMPACT Crossovers

Live vs. tapings presents a problem

Since forming a working relationship in December 2020, AEW and IMPACT Wrestling have worked together on a limited basis.

Matt Hardy, Private Party and Tony Khan have made appearances in the IMPACT Zone in 2021, while The Good Brothers have made regular appearances on Dynamite as part of The Elite. AEW's Kenny Omega is also the reigning IMPACT World champion and former IMPACT EVP Don Callis is currently The Belt Collector's manager.

Neither promotion has exchanged any new talent for a little while, though, and Tony Khan revealed why this is the case during a chat with the New York Post.

"There are legitimately a few reasons for that. They're telling different stories with different wrestlers, they have a different crew and also they tape a lot of their TV a month at a time. A lot of stuff is already set there and we're live every week, so our stuff is moving every week. So they move at a different pace sometimes, the stories, and that's a big reason why," Khan said.

He then added: "They're focusing on different programs. We each have different contenders. I do think there is going to be some more interesting collaborations with them. I've enjoyed working with them. Sometimes the TV taping cycles present challenges in booking stuff."
