The status of Brody King has been a big talking point over the last week following reports of WBD stepping in to keep him off AEW programming due to the recent anti-ICE chants that were featured during his AEW World Championship match with MJF a couple of weeks back, something that prompted plenty of mainstream attention for AEW.
It was later revealed that these initial reports were untrue, with WBD releasing a statement to claim that they did not have any influence in King being left off AEW Dynamite. It was then said that King had always been planned by AEW to just have a video package on this week’s show. Several names who were booked for the upcoming AEW Grand Slam: Australia were also not on Dynamite due to already travelling over.
Tony Khan himself has now debunked all claims of WBD having any say or influence in King’s position in AEW. Per Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp on X, Tony Khan reached out personally;
“Tony Khan confirmed to me directly that WBD had nothing to do with Brody King being off of Dynamite this week, and noted that he was featured in a video package. For those playing semantics about WBD saying they didn’t affect his “upcoming bookings,” sources also clarified they didn’t affect his bookings Wednesday.”
Controversy has surrounded this situation over the last week, with a fan claiming to have been refused entry to AEW Dynamite due to wearing an anti-ICE t-shirt.
