AEW produced a loaded edition of Dynamite on April 6, featuring a Hardys table match, and the long awaited FTR vs. Young Bucks II, amongst other matches.

Also on the card was the first ever singles match between Christian Cage and Adam Cole, and AEW President Tony Khan admitted on Busted Open Radio ahead of Dynamite that he’d considered running the bout at Full Gear 2021:

“I cannot wait to see Adam Cole and Christian Cage lock up, in a match that has been coming for a very long time. Really a match that has been coming for well over six months since Adam Cole first arrived in AEW at All Out at the conclusion of the main event; Kenny Omega vs. Christian Cage. It's a match I anted to see since the end of All Out. It's a match I had at one point honestly considered for Full Gear last year and we ended up putting together the falls count anywhere match," Khan said.

Cage and Page did clash at Full Gear, but as part of a Falls Count Anywhere trios, with Cage and Jurassic Express getting the win over The SuperKliq after 22 minutes.
