Tony Khan Reveals How Mike Tyson's AEW Return Came Together

Tyson will appear on TNT tonight

All Elite Wrestling announced yesterday that Mike Tyson will be returning to the company on this week's edition of Dynamite.

Following AEW's announcement, Tony Khan told Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer that the deal came together a few days ago.

Khan said: "I talk to Mike regularly. I talked to him often as he was training for [Roy Jones Jr.] and then I caught up with him right after the fight and he'd said he wanted to find a good date to come back to AEW, and I said 100 percent yes, we'll find a good date that works for everyone, so I'd kept that in mind. And then when we were catching up a few days ago, I mentioned that it felt like this would be a great date for him to come in if he'd be free, and he said he'd love to come."

Tyson previously appeared in AEW at Double Or Nothing 2020 when he presented the TNT Championship to Cody Rhodes. He then brawled with The Inner Circle on the May 27, 2020, episode of Dynamite, a confrontation that was supposed to lead to a match at All Out with Chris Jericho. Both sides failed to come to an agreement, though, and The Painmaker faced Orange Cassidy at the pay-per-view instead.
