The early days of All Elite Wrestling saw the company heralded for its approach to long-term storytelling, with the rise of Hangman Adam Page regarded by many as one of the greatest storylines of the past decade.

It seems as though AEW are trying to revert to more long-term storytelling going forward, with a report from Fightful Select suggesting that AEW have put ‘solid plans’ in place for top programmes throughout much of 2024, save for any disruptions due to injury.

2023 alone saw the company hampered by several major injuries, most notably the freak ankle injury that derailed Adam Cole’s feud with former tag partner MJF, whilst Kenny Omega was sidelined due to a bout of diverticulitis to name but two instances.

Detractors of AEW suggest that the company needs to focus more on long-term storytelling rather than just throwing out ‘dream matches’ on TV and hoping the audience bites.

AEW have already announced their PPV schedule for the rest of the year, with 2024 set to be rounded off with Worlds End II in Orlando, Florida on December 28.
