WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque caused quite the stir amongst WWE’s online fanbase over the last week, making colourful comments about what he’d say to those who criticise the company instead of just being fans and watching the show. With the wording of Triple H’s comments, it seemed to suggest that he thought that fans who had any negative things to say were not valid, though he has sought to now clarify what he meant in his remarks.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Triple H has noted that his approach to online feedback is to listen when it is the majority, not when it is a minority of critics.
“I don’t put a lot of stock into what is on the internet unless it follows through to other things we do. When Jey Uso won the Rumble, there were a lot of people that had a their thoughts and comments and opinions on that, which is at the end of the day, all they are. But there are 15,000 people in a venue and, as Pat’s said, its been sold out all the time and Yeeting and going absolutely crazy when he comes out. So who do we listen to? The few people? Or the large crowd?
“People are allowed to love what they love and dislike what they dislike, and their opinions are their opinions. But you cannot base things on the opinions of some when the majority feels differently, but when the majority starts to feel it you gotta listen.”
Triple H has also been under fire this week for comments on US President Donald Trump, comparing him favourably to a pro wrestling heel.
