Triple H Throws Shade At 'Stupid' Forbidden Door Term

Triple H not a fan of 'Forbidden Door'

Outside of admitting that he hasn't read the sex trafficking lawsuit filed against Vince McMahon, with WWE and John Laurinaitis also named as defendants, Paul "Triple H" Levesque decided to take a shot at All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling during the post-Royal Rumble press conference.

While commenting on TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace's surprise appearance in the women's Royal Rumble, Triple H called "the cliche terms about what door people go through" "stupid and silly."

"Jordynne Grace coming here from TNA, their champion... I want to thank them for allowing her to be here and participate in the Royal Rumble. I thought she had a spectacular showing tonight, she's an amazing talent. It's exciting to just be able to branch out and I'm not going to use all the cliche terms about what door people go through or anything like that because it's stupid and silly but partnerships and opportunities like this come along, for some people, once in a lifetime but I'm glad she had that opportunity, it's well deserved. She's an incredible talent," Triple H said.

Coined by Hiroshi Tanahashi ahead of his NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14 match with then-AEW World Champion Chris Jericho, 'Forbidden Door' has been used within the industry to represent promotions working together. AEW and NJPW now jointly promote the Forbidden Door pay-per-view and have done so since 2022.

The term 'Forbidden Door' was used by Hiroshi Tanahashi as there was no relationship between New Japan and AEW at the time, primarily due to then-NJPW President Harold Meij. A working relationship between AEW and NJPW ultimately came together in early 2021.
