United States Title Match Announced For WWE Extreme Rules 2021

Sheamus gets his chance to reclaim the gold

Sheamus will get the opportunity to take back the United States Championship when he challenges Damian Priest at WWE Extreme Rules 2021.

The Irish Warrior became the number one contender to Priest's Title by defeating Drew McIntyre on this week's Monday Night Raw, holding onto the Scotsman's tights for extra leverage to secure the pin. Sheamus will now challenge Priest on Sunday 26 September.

Sheamus is the former US Champion but was bested by Priest in a hard-hitting bout at SummerSlam 2021 last month, losing the Title he claimed from Riddle at WrestleMania 37. The 43-year-old was also unsuccessful in reclaiming the Title in a triple-threat match on Raw last week, after he was pinned by Priest in a match which also included McIntyre.

Sheamus will now get the opportunity he's been clamouring for since losing the title at SummerSlam - a one-on-one match to take back the United States Championship from Priest.

The US Title bout joins matches for the WWE Championship, the SmackDown Women's Title and the Raw Women's Championship already set for Extreme Rules in Columbus, Ohio.
