AEW’s future has been a big talking point ever since it emerged that Paramount were acquiring WBD, which has been not only the home of AEWs ever since weekly programming began, but it was also revealed in recent months that WBD owned a stake in AEW too. More has now emerged on AEW’s possible future with Paramount/WBD amidst talk of Tony Khan’s promotion being expected to struggle landing a new TV deal.

According to Fightful Select, sources in AEW have revealed Tony Khan’s excitement for the Paramount-WBD merger, with it in fact being a “favourable” situation for him going forwards. Not only that, a source from Paramount has reportedly claimed that despite Paramount airing TKO’s UFC, there would be no issues with exclusivity that would prevent AEW being aired too. Another Paramount source also stated that UFC worked for Paramount, “not the other way around”.

Contrasting views have been released on AEW’s future on WBD, with Khan publicly stating his positivity regarding Paramount’s acquisition of the company, whereas those in WWE were revealed to believe that AEW would not be renewed upon the expiration of their upcoming TV deal with WBD.
