CM Punk’s recent appearance at NXT Deadline was apparently the start of a long term plan for the recently returned WWE superstar, with reports suggesting that Punk has designs on one day running the WWE developmental brand.

In an update from Fightful Select, it seems as though Punk has spent the last several days at WWE’s Performance Center of his own volition, and has been hanging around backstage at TV tapings and giving advice and help to any talents who request it.

The report goes on to state that Punk has even watched some matches and given feedback to the talents involved, whilst also spending time in gorilla position, and observing from behind the hard cam area and with the tech crew.

Punk’s time in All Elite Wrestling saw several reports stating that he was there to help the next generation, although his advice wasn’t always taken. With NXT it seems as though Punk is enjoying a lower pressure role of what he wanted in AEW, with WWE sources stating that he is welcome at the PC whenever he wants, with reports from the PC itself stating that Punk has been a pleasure to be around.

Whilst Punk’s long-term plan is apparently to succeed Shawn Michaels in heading up NXT, WWE sources have suggested that any chance of that happening is a long way off, with Michaels not believed to be ending his run in NXT any time soon.
