Update On Jerry Lawler Possibly Appearing In AEW
Could Jerry Lawler appear in AEW?
May 23, 2024
It was recently revealed that Jerry Lawler’s performer’s contract with WWE had expired, with the WWE Hall of Famer seemingly out of the company after several runs spanning the last 32 years.
Although Lawler is apparently still signed to a WWE Legends deal, ‘The King’ himself has admitted that his WWE career is likely over, and with long-time commentary partner Jim Ross part of All Elite Wrestling the possibility of a reunion could be on the cards, with JR himself believing it could happen:
"I think so. A one-off," said Ross on Busted Open Radio. "I don't think he wants to reinvest in a weekly schedule. I certainly don't. I'm only doing pay-per-views now for Tony Khan and I'm very comfortable with that. I'm happy with that...I've kind of paid my dues and I'm happy with my schedule. I'm happy that Tony Khan is respectful enough to manage my schedule so that I can live a little longer. I still get excited about it man."
The commentary duo of JR and Lawler is one of the most celebrated in pro-wrestling history, with the duo forming a two-man announce booth during the height of WWE’s Attitude Era in the late 90s/early 2000s.
