WWE NXT has had a large Oba Femi shaped hole for several weeks, with Femi nowhere to be seen since unsuccessfully challenging for Tony D’Angelo’s North American Championship.

A report from Fightful Select suggests that Femi has not been backstage since the ‘Tables Ladders and Scares’ loss at NXT Halloween Havoc on October 27, although no reason has been given as to why.

Whether Femi is just taking time off before returning to NXT or whether he is in line for a WWE main roster call-up is as yet unknown. Regardless it’s assumed Femi will be set for big things upon his return whenever that may be.

One of the standouts of NXT in 2024, Femi has impressed since joining WWE in 2022 as part of the NIL programme. A former shot-putter, Femi has wrestled just 54 times in his career, but stands as the longest reigning North American Champion in title history, having held the belt for 273 days after winning it from Dragon Lee in January 2024 after cashing in his Breakout Tournament championship contract. Femi dropped the belt to Tony D on October 8.
