Professional wrestling veteran Rhino left TNA in December 2024, with him being asked to take a pay cut cited as a reason for his decision.

Since leaving TNA, The Man Beast has been active on the independent scene, working for companies such as Game Changer Wrestling and House of Glory.

On March 22, Rhino made a special appearance at NWA Hard Times V, where he confronted NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Thom Latimer, who had just successfully defended his title against Carson Drake.

NWA President William Patrick Corgan subsequently made a title match between Latimer and Rhino official for the Crockett Cup on May 17. The show will take place in Philadelphia's 2300 Arena (FKA The ECW Arena).

The 49-year-old will be looking to reclaim a title that he held for two days during his first TNA run back in 2005.

Latimer has held the gold since defeating EC3 at the NWA's 76th Anniversary Show on August 31, 2024 - a show which, coincidentally, also took place at the 2300 Arena.

WWE star Natalya will also be wrestling at the Crockett Cup.
