Update On Shayna Baszler Working WWE NXT As A Producer

An update has emerged on Shayna Baszler's status with WWE.

Baszler was released by WWE on May 2 along with a number of other wrestlers, including Dakota Kai, Braun Strowman, Katana Chance, Kayden Carter, Cora Jade, and Gigi Dolin. The former WWE NXT Women's Champion is already back involved with WWE, though, with reports noting that Baszler was a producer for the WWE NXT match of Kelani Jordan vs. Lainey Reid along with Oney Lorcan.

It was noted that Baszler may be working behind the scenes as a producer on a somewhat trial basis to see if she would be a good fit for the role. Fightful Select has confirmed that Baszler has been working behind the scenes, with it being noted that "WWE is seeing how things go in that role for her."

Dave Meltzer has reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Baszler has been a producer on other matches at recent NXT TV tapings as she is still tied to her 90-day non-compete clause.

"She has been at NXT tapings. She has agented other matches, but this is the first one to come out. But it's not like she has taken a job as an agent. She is doing it since she's around and they've asked her," Meltzer said.

Prior to her release, Shayna Baszler had been a part of WWE since 2017. She is a two-time NXT Women's Champion and three-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion, having held the belts with Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey.
