TNA Bound for Glory featured multiple debuts for the promotion, including Erick Redbeard, Ben Bishop, and Max Caster, and TNA originally explored booking Sheamus for the pay-per-view.
Reports have noted that Sheamus was the "primary name" that TNA wanted to answer Moose's open challenge on Sunday, October 11, but the spot ultimately went to Max Caster. It has since been reported by Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp that TNA did actually reach out to Sheamus (real name Stephen Farrelly) about working Bound for Glory but Sheamus had not committed to the booking as of two weeks before the show. According to PWInsider, Sheamus vs. Moose was "never even remotely a possibility" because Sheamus' side never really considered the TNA offer.
Sheamus has been a free agent since his WWE deal expired on October 1. PWInsider added the 48-year-old is purposely taking time off at the moment and he is not rushing to get back in the ring, with Sheamus having yet to discuss any bookings for pro wrestling matches.
There has been talk of possible AEW interest in Sheamus, with wrestlers in the company reportedly pushing for the multi-time world champion to be brought in, but nothing appears to be imminent in that direction, with Sheamus actually booked for a convention on the same day as AEW Full Gear on November 14.
