Necro Butcher on Dark Side of the Ring

In a move that came out of nowhere, Necro Butcher - the legendary deathmatch wrestler - announced in early October that he had put pen to paper on a Legends deal with WWE, despite having never wrestled for the organisation.

According to PWInsider, a major part of the reason behind WWE signing Necro Butcher was to pave the way for him to be added to future WWE video games, with the move very much inspired by New Jack.

New Jack, who also never wrestled for WWE but was featured prominently in ECW, was a playable wrestler in WWE 2K25 and WWE 2K26, with that deal coming together after WWE President Nick Khan worked out an agreement with New Jack's estate.

The fan response to New Jack's inclusion in WWE video games, and Necro Butcher having a similar hardcore wrestling reputation, resulted in Nick Khan reportedly pushing for him to be included in the next edition of the WWE 2K series (likely WWE 2K27). As expected, there are no plans for Necro Butcher to wrestle for WWE, PWInsider noted.

Necro Butcher, who wrestled Mickey Rourke's Randy "The Ram" Robinson in The Wrestler movie, is infamous/famous for his deathmatch wrestling exploits over a pro wrestling career that began in 1998. He continues to wrestle to this day.
