Penta and Tiffany Stratton won their respective WWE Money in the Bank ladder matches at the namesake pay-per-view on Saturday, October 10, but that wasn't the original plan for the two matches.
According to False Finish, Bron Breakker and Roxanne Perez were originally scheduled to win the MITB ladder matches before WWE switched plans to Penta and Tiffany Stratton. Why exactly WWE opted to change those plans is unknown.
Previous reports have noted, however, that Penta impressed WWE in his World Heavyweight Championship match against Roman Reigns on the September 14 episode of Monday Night Raw in Mexico City to the point he was viewed as a heavy favourite to win Money in the Bank coming out of that event. Trick Williams was also reportedly considered to win the MITB Ladder Match at one point too.
The change of plans only adds to 2026 being a year of scrapped major wins for Bron Breakker. The former NXT Champion was originally scheduled to win the 2026 men's Royal Rumble match and move on to win the World Heavyweight Title from CM Punk at WrestleMania 42. Those plans were nixed, though, with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque admitting on WWE: Unreal that he was concerned about Breakker being shoved down people's throats.
Roxanne Perez, meanwhile, is currently a part of The Judgment Day, playing third fiddle to WWE Women's World Champion Liv Morgan and WWE Women's Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez.
