Update On What MJF Has Been Up To Since AEW Worlds End

What has MJF been doing in January 2024?

MJF has been busy since AEW Worlds End.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman dropped the AEW World Championship to Samoa Joe at AEW Worlds End on December 30, 2023. He has since been removed from the AEW roster page as All Elite Wrestling try to play into the "bidding war of 2024", although reports have indicated that MJF is believed to have signed a new multi-year deal with AEW in 2022.

MJF has since been on holiday in Costa Rica with girlfriend Alicia Atout and Friedman appears to have been back in front of a camera since then. Deadline has reported that MJF was cast in a supporting role in Floaters, a Jewish summer camp comedy that recently wrapped filming in New York. The movie follows a struggling musician who decides to mentor misfit children at a Jewish summer camp as a last-resort job. Everyone must come together as they try and save the camp. Other names cast in the movie include Jackie Tohn, Sarah Podemski, and Aya Cash.

Friedman has done more acting in recent years and he has a cameo as Lance Von Erich in The Iron Claw. He initially had a more expanded role but many of MJF's scenes were cut from the final movie. MJF is an executive producer on the film.

When MJF will return to AEW programming is unknown. He could be out of action for up to a year if he requires surgery to repair his torn labrum. MJF is also dealing with a hip injury he suffered during the Flying Elbow spot to the outside at Full Gear.
