MJF Possibly Out Of Action For Close To A Year

MJF may be out of an AEW ring for up to a year if he has surgery

Following his loss of the AEW World Championship to Samoa Joe at Worlds End, and a beatdown from “The Devil” Adam Cole and his new cronies in the Undisputed Kingdom faction, MJF is set to be taking time off AEW programming for some time to heal up for various injuries.

It has not been announced by AEW how long MJF will be out of action, though he was recently removed from their roster page amidst the ongoing narrative that his contract was expiring on January 1st. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, MJF could be absent for anywhere up to a year due to his accumulation of injuries. MJF had been working with a torn labrum and an injured hip, though Meltzer notes his shoulder is the more serious of his ailments, and that opting for surgery could keep him out for several months to a year.

It is noted that MJF wants to avoid this, though in the long run it could be the better option in order for him to properly heal up and recover.
