Vince McMahon Denies Rita Chatterton Allegations In 'Mr. McMahon' Netflix Docuseries

Vince McMahon addresses allegations made against him by Rita Chatterton

Vince McMahon has denied he raped Rita Chatterton during the new Mr. McMahon docuseries that began streaming on Netflix today.

Addressing the allegations within the documentary, McMahon said: "Once you're accused of rape, you're a rapist. But it was consensual and actually, had it been a rape the statute of limitations had run out. So it's all kind of crap like that that people are digging up trying to find something on you."

Rita Chatterton accused McMahon in 1992 of raping her in the back of a limousine in 1986, claiming that McMahon told her to satisfy him if she wanted a contract worth $500,000 from WWE (then WWF). Chatterton filed a lawsuit demanding $11.75 million in damages from McMahon in November 2022, which was possible due to the state of New York opening a one-year window which allowed victims of sex crimes to file lawsuits that would typically be outside of the statute of limitations.

Chatterton agreed to a multimillion-dollar settlement with McMahon in December 2022. McMahon's then-lawyer Jerry McDevitt issued the following statement at the time: "Mr. McMahon denies and always has denied raping Ms. Chatterton. And he settled the case solely to avoid the cost of litigation."

McMahon previously sued Chatterton in 1992, claiming she was induced to make a false rape charge by a wrestler with an axe to grind. The lawsuit was withdrawn in 1994.

Vince McMahon is no longer a part of WWE, having resigned as TKO Executive Chairman in 2024 after Janel Grant accused him of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and physical and emotional abuse. McMahon remains under federal investigation for several cases of sexual misconduct.

Elsewhere in the Mr. McMahon docuseries, Vince McMahon claimed Chris Benoit did not suffer from CTE.
