Vince McMahon Had "Nothing To Do" With CM Punk's WWE Return

Vince McMahon had no say on CM Punk's return

As revealed by Triple H, the signing of CM Punk to WWE and his huge Survivor Series return was a last minute deal and only known by a few higher ups in the company including himself and Nick Khan. When it comes to the decision-makers behind the comeback, one name that was absent from discussions was Vince McMahon.

As reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, it was predominantly a Nick Khan call and Vince McMahon was out of the picture.

“It was Nick Khan who made the call. Vince had nothing to do with it. Paul Levesque obviously had a lot to do with it. Those two were the point guys.”

Triple H noted at the Survivor Series post-show press conference that those in TKO weren’t pushing for anything in particular when it comes to Punk, and that he and Khan are often left to their own devices to run WWE. In fact, he stated that those in TKO were likely shocked by seeing CM Punk’s arrival in WWE - something Meltzer didn’t think was the case, but when he asked around, he confirmed this to seemingly be true.
