Vince McMahon may not be in attendance for his first WWE show since resigning as TKO Executive Chairman in disgrace in January 2024.
The belief within WWE earlier this year was that Vince McMahon would be at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC for John Cena's final match on the December 13 edition of Saturday Night's Main Event. In an update, however, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has reported that the chances of McMahon attending Cena's final match are "increasingly unlikely - not impossible, but unlikely."
Vince McMahon has not appeared on WWE TV since June 2022. He briefly "retired" from WWE in July 2022 amidst a sexual misconduct and hush money scandal, but forced his way back into the company in January 2023 and WWE ultimately completed a merger with UFC under TKO Group Holdings that September.
McMahon then resigned as TKO Executive Chairman in January 2024 after former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit accusing McMahon of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and physical and emotional abuse. That lawsuit is still ongoing, and more lawsuits have since been filed against McMahon, including one by former WWE ring boys which alleges Vince knew about the sexual abuse carried out by Mel Phillips but did nothing to prevent or stop it.
Despite the allegations against Vince McMahon, John Cena has remained friends with the former WWE CEO and Cena has repeatedly expressed his love for McMahon.
