John Cena Not Surprised By Fan Reaction To Him Expressing His Love For Vince McMahon

John Cena loves Vince McMahon and he hasn't hidden that fact in public, having repeatedly expressed his love for his former boss in interviews since McMahon was forced to resign from WWE in disgrace.

Cena reasserted his love for McMahon only weeks after Vince was accused of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and physical and emotional abuse by former WWE employee Janel Grant. Cena then stated ahead of WrestleMania 41 that he loved Vince McMahon and he didn't care who heard it.

"I don't care who hears it: I love Vince. I'm not downplaying anything that needs to be decided or allegations of any kind, but when I love somebody, I love them wholeheartedly. I know people are going to be angry about that, but they can't put their value on my relationship with somebody I love," Cena told the New York Times.

Appearing at Amazon's upfront presentation, Cena was asked by US Weekly if he was surprised by the fan reaction to him saying he loved Vince McMahon.

"No, because everyone's entitled to their opinion. Just like I am entitled to have an emotional connection to somebody. I don't hold anybody to how they feel or what they view as permissible or things that make them happy, angry, excited, sad. That's their right as a human being, I'm not surprised by any of that," Cena stated.

Vince McMahon resigned as TKO Executive Chairman in January 2024 after Janel Grant filed her lawsuit against McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis. He remains a major TKO shareholder, however, owning approximately 4.06 per cent of the company.

In addition to Grant's lawsuit, McMahon is a defendant in a lawsuit filed by several former WWE ring boys in which it is alleged that Vince was aware of underage boys being sexually abused and did nothing to stop it.

John Cena is the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion, having defeated Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 41.
