It has been known for a while that it was in the works, but former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has now officially launched his brand new entertainment company pursuing sports, media, and entertainment opportunities, and we now also know the name. As reported by Wrestlenomics, the company will be run under the name of “14th & I”.
Filings were made for three limited liability companies - 14th & I Holdings LLC, 14th & I Investments LLC and 14th & I Management LLC, with this being said to be in order to keep different parts of the company legally and financially separate. McMahon is listed as the manager of two, with a combination of others being listed for the third.
Former WWE executive who worked with McMahon for years, Brad Blum, is listed as President of 14th & I on his LinkedIn profile. When it comes to the name of the company, Wrestlenomics has explained the significance of it.
“The firm’s name appears to be a reference to a location of historical significance for McMahon and WWE. A 2006 article on WWE.com noted that the Capitol Wrestling Corporation, the predecessor to WWE, was headquartered at the corner of 14th and I Streets in Washington D.C., around the 1950s and 1960s, when the company was led by McMahon’s father, Vincent J. McMahon.”
There were reports circulating this week that Vince McMahon was interested in buying back WWE, but it is believed to be very unlikely to happen, with a rumour killer emerging to counter this story. Developments took place in this in McMahon's ongoing lawsuit with former WWE employee Janel Grant, as it was revealed that John Laurinaitis being dropped from the lawsuit, instead agreeing to cooperate with Grant's side.
