The attorney for Vince McMahon - Jessica Rosenberg - has responded to the joint announcement which confirmed John Laurinaitis was no longer a defendant in Janel Grant's lawsuit.
Rosenberg issued the following statement to Cultaholic:
"Today's dismissal of John Laurinaitis as a defendant doesn't alter the facts of this case in any way. Vince McMahon never mistreated Janel Grant. No matter how many press releases her team issues, the truth remains unchanged. As Mr. Laurinaitis's lawyer previously said: 'Mr. Laurinaitis corroborates Mr. McMahon in publicly declaring that Ms. Grant's allegations of sexual abuse and coercion in her Complaint are completely unfounded.'"
It was announced on Wednesday, May 28 that Janel Grant had filed with prejudice to remove John Laurinaitis as a defendant from the sex trafficking lawsuit she initially filed in January 2024. A joint statement from representatives for Grant and Laurinaitis revealed the former WWE Head of Talent Relations has agreed to provide evidence in Grant's lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE.
"John Laurinaitis has agreed to cooperate and provide evidence in Janel Grant's lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE. His agreement to a confidential settlement is a pivotal next step toward holding McMahon and WWE accountable and bringing justice to Ms. Grant after years of sexual abuse and trafficking. Mr. Laurinaitis looks forward to moving on with his life. We cannot provide any additional details at this time," a joint statement issued to Cultaholic said.
Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis in January 2024 and an amended lawsuit was filed earlier this year. Vince McMahon is accused of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and physical and emotional abuse. WWE are accused of looking to sweep the allegations against Vince McMahon under the rug. John Laurinaitis before his dismissal as a defendant was accused of sexual assault.
Laurinaitis reaching an agreement with Janel Grant was the latest change from 'Johnny Ace' and his representatives. After Grant's lawsuit was filed in January 2024, Laurinaitis claimed he was a victim of Vince McMahon's. One day before his divorce from Kathy Colace was finalised, though, Laurinaitis performed a U-turn and sided with Vince McMahon's motion to compel arbitration. Laurinaitis had maintained his position to compel arbitration until May 28, 2025.
