Vince McMahon won't be buying back WWE from TKO Group Holdings despite claims that the former WWE CEO is interested in acquiring the company he headed for decades.
It was reported by former WWE commentator Jonathan Coachman on Coach & Bro that McMahon was interested in purchasing WWE.
"I mentioned on Twitter and I've been, by the way, going viral. You probably seen I've been quoted everywhere when I talked about Vince re-buying. I've been quoted everywhere. And the one thing I've yet to be wrong about, anything. And so now all of a sudden I'm getting all of these websites because I have educated views and I also have people that are tipping me off. Now, do I know one hundred percent he's going to buy? I know he wants to," Coachman stated.
Regardless of any interest McMahon may have in buying back WWE, Fightful Select has reported that he would almost certainly not have the financial means to buy WWE due to the increase in WWE's market value in recent years. Since WWE merged with UFC under TKO Group Holdings in September 2023, the value of the parent company has increased significantly. The market cap of TKO Group Holdings, according to Yahoo Finance, is currently $12.8 billion.
Vince McMahon has not been involved in the day-to-day running of WWE since January 2024 when he resigned as TKO Executive Chairman after Janel Grant accused him of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and physical and emotional abuse. McMahon remains a prominent shareholder in TKO Group Holdings, though, owning around 4 per cent of TKO, which was estimated to be worth around $1 billion as of March 2025.
Even if McMahon were interested in buying back WWE, TKO aren't interested in selling, according to Masked J of PWN.
"I was given word that TKO is not interested in selling off #WWE. And the source I spoke with chuckled at the thought of Vince purchasing it back. It's very possible he may feel like he wants it back, but seems very unlikely at this point since WWE is not for sale," Masked J tweeted.
Vince McMahon is still believed to be in the process of setting up an entertainment company. He is also a defendant in several lawsuits, including the lawsuit filed by Janel Grant.
