Although he put his remaining shares up for sale in April, Vince McMahon is still a shareholder within TKO Group Holdings, TKO President and COO Mark Shapiro confirmed today.

Speaking with CNBC, Shapiro revealed he recently had breakfast with McMahon and the former WWE CEO was said to be supportive of the direction of the pro wrestling promotion.

"I had breakfast with him a few weeks ago. Just to check in, it had been a long time. Haven't heard from him at all. Obviously, the series on Netflix came out, I wanted to see kind of where he was. By the way, he couldn't have been more cooperative, he couldn't have been nicer. I mean, he was a total pro at breakfast, if you will. It's a one-on-one get-together," Shapiro said.

"But he's out of the business entirely, he doesn't make decisions, he's not on the board, he doesn't opine, we don't consult him. He's got some litigation that he's working through and frankly, he wants the privacy and the time to work through it. Which is great because in the meantime we're going to keep building TKO and WWE and expanding the horizon, expanding the opportunities. And by the way, he's still a shareholder. Not the shareholder he once was, but he's still a shareholder."

After being asked for McMahon's thoughts on the direction of WWE, Shapiro added: "Couldn't have been more positive, but I wasn't asking for his opinion."

There was speculation in recent months that McMahon had sold the remainder of his shares after David Shoemaker stated in the final episode of the Mr. McMahon docuseries on Netflix that the 79-year-old was no longer a stockholder in TKO. As of filings on April 26, 2024, Vince McMahon owned 8,021,405 TKO shares.

Vince McMahon resigned as TKO Executive Chairman in January 2024 after Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against him, WWE, and John Laurinaitis. Grant accused McMahon of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and physical and emotional abuse.

McMahon has since been sued again in October 2024 over the ring boy scandal. He also remains under federal investigation over allegations of sex trafficking and sexual misconduct dating back to 1986.

Despite all of this, McMahon is reportedly in the process of setting up a new entertainment company.
