On Monday night, a surprising Twitter spat developed as WWE stars Randy Orton and Tommaso Ciampa traded shots on the social media platform.

The spat began after The Viper made a joke about NXT Superstars slapping their legs while hitting Superkicks during NXT TakeOver: In Your House. Ciampa took exception to this and quickly called out Orton for being so boring inside the squared circle he helps send The Blackheart's daughter to sleep. The 13-time world champion was unfazed by this retort, however, and told Ciampa the black and gold brand is a glorified wrestling school.

Some wondered if the confrontation was designed to kickstart a feud between the two Superstars. Bryan Alvarez put these ideas to bed on Wrestling Observer Live as he reported there are no plans for Ciampa and Orton to have a match. Alvarez also revealed Vince McMahon is unhappy with both stars as the boss hates it when Superstars tease matches he isn't planning on booking.

Alvarez said: "This was not done to set up a match… The impression I was given was that Vince was not happy with this because… there are rules and then there's Vince. Vince hates it when guys or women or whatever do something that teases a match that he's not going to do. He hates that."
