Reports emerged yesterday of changes being made to WWE’s commentary team across both Monday Night RAW and Friday Night SmackDown. With Joe Tessitore absent from RAW in the college football season, Michael Cole and Corey Graves were the new team for the red brand. These two remained in the booth for SmackDown too, with PWInsider noting that Wade Barrett was set to be off the road for some time and would not be commentating.
The report stated that it was not confirmed whether this had anything to do with recent controversy which was sparked and smoothed over between Wade Barrett and Nikki Bella. Wade Barrett has taken to social media to hit out at reports and clarify the reasoning behind his absence.
“I usually ignore BS reports like this, but it’s causing needless hate to be spewed towards people I work with. WWE have kindly given me a couple of weeks off for personal time (booked nine months ago), and then I’m back to business as usual. A complete non-story. The end.”
Expect to see Barrett back in the commentary booth at some point in the near future.
