Bryan Danielson's recent orbital bone injury actually occurred during his match with Andrade El Idolo on AEW Collision, a report by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated has revealed.

Danielson sold an injury to his face at the conclusion of last week's Dynamite main event bout between himself, Claudio Castagnoli, and the team of Kazuchika Okada and Orange Cassidy.

Barrasso explains:

"Danielson was hurt last week on Collision during a superb match against Andrade, doing damage to his orbital bone, Sports Illustrated has learned. The injury will require surgery. Danielson did wrestle five nights later on Dynamite in a tag match with Claudio Castagnoli against Kazuchika Okada and Orange Cassidy, but Castagnoli carried the bulk of the match.

"Per the storyline [...] the injury was caused by Okada and Cassidy."

Okada appeared to mock Danielson as he sold the injury, potentially indicating that the storyline may be used to set up a rematch between the pair once Bryan has recovered from surgery.

Danielson and Okada faced off in singles action at this year's Forbidden Door show cross-promoted by AEW and New Japan, with Bryan coming out on top. A rematch would therefore make sense, as also speculated in the Sports Illustrated piece:

"If healthy, another priority is a match against Okada at the Tokyo Dome on January 4 for New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom, which could very well serve as one of Danielson’s career highlights."
