Gunther makes his entrance for a match during a March 2025 live event

Gunther seemingly won't be back on WWE TV for the go-home edition of Monday Night Raw before Backlash from Omaha, Nebraska.

PWInsider has reported that Gunther isn't expected to be back on WWE programming until the Backlash pay-per-view/premium live event on Saturday, May 10 from St. Louis, Missouri. Gunther will be in action on the show against Pat McAfee, with the match being set up on the Raw after WrestleMania 41 when Gunther choked out McAfee.

Gunther was indefinitely suspended in storyline for the attack, but McAfee accepted the match on the April 28 episode of Raw when it was offered by temporary Raw GM Nick Aldis.

While suspended in storyline, in reality, Gunther was written off TV because he asked for time off. The former World Heavyweight Champion has since been spotted in London on several occasions and Gunther revealed that he and wife Jinny have purchased a house in Cambridge, England.

Also official for WWE Backlash is John Cena vs. Randy Orton for the Undisputed WWE Championship and Lyra Valkyria vs. Becky Lynch for the WWE Women's Intercontinental Title.
