Why Bully Ray Thinks It's A Good Thing Swerve Strickland Didn't Win The AEW World Title At Revolution

Bully Ray thinks AEW Revolution would have been the wrong time to crown Swerve Strickland as champ

Swerve Strickland inches ever closer to becoming AEW World Champion, with Swerve coming achingly close to winning the gold at AEW Revolution 2024 on March 3.

Strickland was denied the win after being half-and-half suplexed out of it by champ Samoa Joe, leaving Joe open to tap out Hangman Page in the middle of the ring. Whilst fans are desperate to see Swerve win the big one, ECW legend Bully Ray believes AEW did the right thing by not crowning the Mogul Embassy leader at Revolution, saying the following on Busted Open Radio:

"Would have got lost in the sauce. It would have got lost in Sting's last match because all we would want to be talking about is Sting, Sting, Sting. So, Swerve would have become the first African American World Heavyweight Champion in AEW, would have been a side note if he would have won. Smart not to put it on him,” said Bully Ray

Bully continued noting how Swerve’s eventual world title win should be a night when all the focus is on him. Swerve will have to wait his turn. though, as Joe is set to put the title on the line against Wardlow after the Undisputed Kingdom heavyweight won the All-Star Scramble match at Revolution, guaranteeing him a shot at the title.
