William Regal Makes Shock Appearance On WWE NXT

William Regal back on WWE NXT

William Regal made a shock return during the March 5 edition of WWE NXT, only making his second televised appearance on WWE programming since returning to the company in 2023.

Regal interacted with his son Charlie Dempsey as he interrupted No Quarter Catch Crew's celebration of Dempsey's NXT Heritage Cup win from last week's show. Regal noted the Heritage Cup is important to him and he will have his eyes on the faction as they defend the trophy under the "catch clause" which allows any member of the group to defend the cup without needing to reveal who will be wrestling ahead of time.

Dempsey then stated he would defend the NXT Heritage Cup better than Regal ever could, a slight acknowledgement of the real-life relationship between him and Regal.

Regal has been back in WWE since 2023 as Vice President of Global Talent Development after he asked All Elite Wrestling not to pick up the option in his contract. One of the stipulations of Regal's AEW exit was that he couldn't appear on WWE TV in 2023.

Regal previously made a brief return to NXT on January 23 when he congratulated Ava on her appointment as NXT General Manager. As of the February 27 taping of WWE NXT, however, there were no plans in place to use Regal on-screen in NXT on a full-time basis in the near future. It is unknown if those plans have since changed.
