Why Oba Femi Was Absent From NXT Revealed

Oba Femi has emerged as one of NXT’s most promising acts, recently reigning as the NXT North American Champion. The 26-year-old last competed in a Tables, Ladders & Scares match with Tony D’Angelo on the October 27 NXT Halloween Havoc PLE, and had not been seen since… until his return last night at NXT Deadline, where he emerged as the final competitor in the Iron Survivor match.  

Fightful Select have provided an update on Femi and his recent whereabouts. When it comes to why Femi hadn’t been on TV or seen at any events recently, the reason was due to him spending some time back in Nigeria. The report noted that he was expected back in the mix sooner rather than later, which proved to be true with his return. 

A report emerged following his last match that he had said his goodbyes to NXT, though this was later debunked, and Fightful notes that there is no indication that a main roster call up is set to happen any time soon. However, it is stated that Triple H is a fan of Femi, and those in WWE said that they’d be surprised if Femi hadn’t been locked into a new WWE deal.
