Why WWE SmackDown Was Taped Out Of Order

Reason WWE filmed SmackDown out of order revealed

Due to the company's house show tour in Japan from Thursday, July 25 to Saturday, July 27, WWE taped the July 26 edition of Friday Night SmackDown one week earlier in Omaha, Nebraska.

The show didn't end up airing in the order it was taped, however, and WWE actually taped the SmackDown main event of Tiffany Stratton & Nia Jax vs. Bayley & Michin before the tag team gauntlet match.

Sean Ross Sapp noted on a Fightful Select Q&A why WWE decided to tape SmackDown out of order.

"Michin and Bayley vs. Nia Jax and Tiffany was listed as the last segment for SmackDown and ended up airing that way. But it was actually filmed before the tag team turmoil match. When I asked people why that was they said, 'Probably to get people out of there a little bit earlier.' And it's taped and didn't matter as much to necessarily organise it in that matter," Sean Ross Sapp said.

The Bloodline of Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga ended up winning the Gauntlet Match to become the number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships. They will challenge #DIY for the belts on the August 2 edition of SmackDown in Cleveland, Ohio.
