Will Ospreay Explains Why He Signed With AEW

Will Ospreay reveals why he chose AEW

Will Ospreay is officially All Elite, and whilst he won’t be in the company immediately due to finishing up with NJPW, he will be “on the road to Revolution” next year following the expiration of his NJPW deal. Ospreay appeared at the Full Gear 2023 media scrum, and explained his decision to join AEW.

“I’ve built up trust and rapport with Tony. I feel I’m at my best over here. I’ve enjoyed every time I’ve come over here. Right now, this is the best decision for me and my family. I’m not interrupting my kid’s school, my Mrs. can see her parents. I get to be one of the best pro wrestlers that have ever done it and I get to do it now on weekly TV and I get to really test myself in these waters.”

He went on to glow about his eight years spent in NJPW, and thanked them for helping him grow and mature into the man he is today. He did note that with AEW and NJPW’s working relationship, he wasn’t “done”.

“I’m really looking forward to testing myself and I’m thankful for New Japan and everything they’ve done for me. That doesn’t mean I’m done. I can still, with Tony’s blessing, I can still do some dates. It just has to be right."

Ospreay addressed rumours of discussions with other promotions, mentioning TNA by name, but in the end chose AEW as his new home.
