Will Ospreay is heading to Forbidden Door for a rematch with Kenny Omega
The AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door PPV event is finally beginning to take shape with it now being just three weeks until the big PPV takes place. At NJPW’s Dominion event, Will Ospreay earned the right to go on to challenge the IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega at the June 25 show.
Ospreay met Lance Archer in the finals of a tournament in Dominion’s opening match to crown a new number one contender for the IWGP US Title in which Ospreay successfully delivered the hidden blade to emerge victorious and win the bout. Ospreay outlasted Hiroshi Tanahashi in the semi finals to make it to Dominion, whereas Archer took on Fred Rosser.
After the bell, Ospreay took to the mic to call out Kenny Omega, stating that he was going to Canada (where Forbidden Door will take place) to win the belt. The pair previously had what many deemed to be a match of the year candidate earlier this year at Wrestle Kingdom 17 when Omega defeated Ospreay to win the gold.
